DMEC 2024 - Nashville TNThe Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) 2024 Employer Conference will be in Nashville, August 5-8, 2024 this year.

Reliance Matrix will be there and we hope to see you! Check out our presentation schedule with descriptions below!

Scott Boutin, Reliance Matrix's Chief Claims Officer, will join other leaders in the industry to discuss The Future of AI in Leave and Disability Management on Tuesday August 6, 2024 from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing industries, including leave and disability management. Join us as we explore AI's potential to transform the way organizations handle leave and disability management processes, along with discussing the benefits, challenges, and ethical implications of its use in this domain.

Later that day, Shelby Felton, Director and Product Compliance Counsel for Reliance Matrix and I will offer tips for Encouraging Employees to Stay at Work or Return to Work from 4:30pm-4:55pm.

This session will look at how employers can take a proactive approach and encourage employees to stay at work or return to work rather than taking multiple or lengthy leaves of absence—without violating ADA and FMLA laws. Presenters will identify, in interactive scenarios, alternative return to work options that may work best for an employee, plus offer ways employers can discuss these options while adhering to most recent DOL and EEOC guidance.

On Wednesday, August 7 from 11:00am-12:00pm, Attorney David Mohl, of Jackson Lewis, Dana McDonald, Head of Employment - Legal at Under Armour, and I will be discussing the potential ramifications of interagency collaboration in Big Brother is Watching! Federal Agencies Agree to Collaborate.

In September 2023, the DOL's Wage and Hour Division and the EEOC entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance enforcement of leave laws within their scope. Join us to learn how this impacts employers from a litigation, leave administration, and benefits standpoint. Panelists will discuss the current state for managing leaves in light of the MOU, DOL and EEOC trends and enforcement priorities, as well as proactive tips employers can use to mitigate risk.

And finally, on August 7 from 1:30pm-2:30pm, Shelby Felton and Rebecca Ford, Director, Strategy, Product & Marketing at Reliance Matrix will facilitate a panel discussion with Michael Cisar, General Counsel, CT Paid Leave Authority and David Gallivan, Compliance and Appeals Branch Manager, Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance on Colorado and Connecticut PFML: What's Worked, What Hasn't, What's Next.

This session will begin with a brief statistical overview and comparison of Connecticut's and Colorado's recently enacted benefits programs. We'll examine the demographics of claimants and evaluate whether these programs are reaching marginalized employee groups. Additional discussion topics include experiences with affinity and fraudulent claims, leave stacking, the legislative and regulatory landscape and more, including what's next on the horizon.
